ASSIGNMENT : 1 year – renewable by mutual consent and availability of funding

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide support for reproductive health research activities within the Council’s Reproductive Health Program Dhaka office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all research activities, including providing technical and managerial support for developing, and planning study instruments and fieldwork. In close coordination with different partners, the Assistant Program Officer will plan and oversight of qualitative data collection, data management, data analysis; assist report-writing; and spearhead local dissemination activities. S/he will also be responsible for all communication activities regarding creating different committees, and coordinating committee meetings. The ideal candidate will have a background in reproductive health research with strong academic background; the ability to work well with professionals and staff from a wide range of local, national and international organizations; and excellent management, leadership, and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:   
  • Assist in managing research activities maintaining highest ethical standard and according to the established work plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Develop study tools, training manual, and translation
  • Plan, conduct and manage training activities; train data collection staff and oversee all data collection activities, provide ongoing technical oversight of data collection and data management; data analysis, and assist in report-writing
  • Ensure quality data collection
  • Undertake frequent field monitoring visits to study sites, troubleshoot accordingly, assess study implementation, conduct interview and meeting as required, and report back to the PI/supervisors
  • Write monthly update reports, prepare final report, plan and organize data interpretation workshops and spearhead local dissemination activities to ensure research findings are used to advance policy/advocacy and programmatic needs
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and partner organizations
  • Any other job assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:   
  • Master’s degree in Anthropology, Demography, Development Studies, Political Science, Population Sciences, Public Health, Social Welfare, Social Work, Sociology, or Women Studies from recognized university
  • At least 5 years of proven relevant work experience in research (Year of experience will be relaxed for outstanding candidate based on strong academic background, publication, and relevant experience in reputed organizations
  • Field experience in reproductive health research is essential
  • Experience in qualitative research is an asset
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to rural field sites and project areas frequently
  • Able to work in teams/managing ourselves and our relationships
